Born and raised in the southern part of Germany not far from Stuttgart, I still live close to my hometown.
For years art was more or less a subject to study. In addition to other subjects at the Teacher's College in Reutlingen I studied the basics of Arts and Crafts with Prof. Arno F. Caspers and Max Dentler, exploring the connections between material, form and colour as well as the history of art.
Later at the University of Tübingen, where I got my diploma in education in 1978, I added subjects as psychology, sociology and philosophy.
The beginning of the 1990s was also the start of an intense phase of painting with watercolour, acrylic or mixed media. On my first trip to New York in 1995 a series of photographies came into being and my work with photography was opened up to a new dimension.
Impressed, not only by the architecture of that town, but also touched by the multi-dimensional and creative decorations in the shop windows, I started taking photos, calling them “Windows of the World”.
Now I have found one of my favourite topic and continuously improved this technique. Holding the camera at special angles, parts of the town and everyday life are added to the picture.
I call them “Reflections” now. Taken within a glimpse of time they resemble a still life. Subsequently, I never cut out parts of these photographs or change anything in size or colour – as many people think. They are not digitally composed. Once in the box, they stay as they are.
